The six photos I used
for my story was not my first choice for the storyboard, which led me to
struggle with forming a meaning for my work. Eventually, I created some form of
meaning to my work, inverting matter. I did this by using rocks showing the
notion of water.
My initial ideas were
sourced from postcards, messages, notes, perfume and other objects that stood
out in my room.
Later on in the day, we
critiqued, complimented and contemplated about the meaning of other people’s
series’ of photographs. The feedback I was given was very helpful, in terms of
seeing what kind of message I had portrayed.
Some of the comments included: ‘intriguing’, ‘add additional elements’,
‘diverse’. I felt that the comments were also useful prompts in helping
progress onto how I captured the following photographs.
From the series of six
images, I set out to use rocks representing, showing that rocks are just as
fluid as water in some aspects, for example composition. I then calculated that
the shoot was not possible in terms of resources. So I moved onto photographing
different selections of rocks, printed them and then shaped them to make an
assortment of paper rocks.
In future projects, I will
start assignments as soon as possible, so I am able to produce work that means
something to me and is thought out properly.
