Project Proposal

Review of progress and achievement through parts 1 & 2 of the course
During the exploratory stage, I gained a vital understanding in approaching all forms of art and design using simple to extreme processes and techniques, which can result in positive imaginative outcomes rather than monotonous results. Experimenting with this approach through trial and error throughout all pathways reinforced my ideas and skills in my final outcomes. An effective core skill I learned was working in a manner involving continuously making, designing and generating as much ideas, whilst simultaneously experimenting with materials. This process allowed me to have wider choices and a refined, in depth idea for a final outcome.
The prospect of obtaining fast results and witnessing countless changes in designing structures is why I chose the 3DD pathway. Additionally, I would also benefit from strengthening skills such as model making, using software, forming stronger concepts and understanding questions that are posed within architecture. These aspects have helped me become better equipped for potentially studying architecture at degree level. Overall, the subject of the architectural structure in relation to its context is a matter that has been at the forefront of my projects. It is this topic that will inform the basis for my project.

Project Concept
The interrelation of an art movement and gentrification are aspects I would like to explore and be reflected in my project realisation. I aim to create a structure that acts as a form of communication, as well as a place that can affect a person the same way a piece of music or artwork does. Potentially, the space I make could possibly show a journey, a subject I found from revisiting my previous projects.
The structure should aim to show a different symbol of what architecture is now. The main areas of research will include: an art movement and subjects surrounding the topic of gentrification, and possibly emphasizing an atmosphere through experiments.
An issue I may attempt to resolve is to answer the question of: do people want buildings to have an instant or long lasting impact on them? 3D printing is a method I would like to use more, so that it will speed up my experimentation with prototypes for the final outcome. Additionally, I hope to use the laser cutter more frequently, which will aid me in the process of quick prototyping. Lastly, I hope to have access to more raw materials such as wood, for the final outcome in order to add more texture to the structure. All these methods will be needed in order to create a piece that will reflect my concept in project realisation.

Evaluation
I will experiment with a variety of evaluation techniques that will inform some of the directions I take in the project.
Weekly reflections recorded on my blog and sketchbook will address my action plan and changes within the project process. This will inform myself if I am keeping track with my project aims such as checking if my designs communicate a message. After these reflections I will evaluate the methods and ideas I have been using and deducting the least productive aspects.
I hope to gain feedback from my tutors and peers fortnightly or weekly, which will strengthen the direction of my ideas. Questions I may impose are: do my project designs and concepts have clarity in understanding? Am I moving to an extreme tangent? Are there strengths I can enhance? Aspects/weaknesses to improve?
Recording the evaluation will address how I can tailor the approaches I take on in addressing my project targets.
